Chers Bébés 2017

Acadiana Right to Life, along with Louisiana Right to Life, will host the fourth annual Chers Bébés: Acadiana's Soirée for Life, on Thursday, Nov. 2. The event will be held at Le Pavillon (1913 Kaliste Saloom Road) in Lafayette and begins at 7 p.m.

Chers Bébés benefits the Dr. Zerben Bienvenu and Dr. William Smith Fund for Acadiana Pro-Life Education, dedicated to the pro-life education of middle and high school students across Acadiana through interactive presentations and activities. Through these efforts we continue to strengthen the pro-life spirit of Acadiana for generations to come!

 Annette Domingue

 Dud Lastrapes

This year's Chers Bébés will be held in honor of Mrs. Annette Domingue and Mr. Dud Lastrapes. Annette and Dud have served Acadiana’s pro-life cause generously for the past 40 years and have set a remarkable example to follow! We are grateful for their tremendous legacy in our community.

Annette, the mother of four adopted children, has always gone the extra mile for life. She served as co-chair of the 24-hour "Lifeline," a resource and referral service for young women seeking an abortion. The service directed these young women to free medical care, skilled counseling and even where to obtain food, which often was the first step in saving a previous life. Annette remained active in the pro-life movement, serving as treasurer for many years until her health no longer permitted this level of involvement.

Dud is a former mayor of Lafayette, serving from 1980-92, and in his earlier years he was also a reporter, broadcaster, and news director of KLFY Channel 10. He joined with Drs. Bergeron, Bienvenu and Smith early on and provided tremendous support and guidance to the Acadiana Right to  Life movement, utilizing his expertise in the public relations sector in communicating the pro-life message throughout Acadiana. Dud assisted with several of the trips to Washington, D.C., with the Acadiana delegation and was not hesitant to state where he stood on the pro-life movement during his time in political office.

Fr. Shenan Boquet, a native of Houma and president of Human Life International, will be the guest speaker.
