Abortion Statistics in Louisiana come from the Department of Health and Hospitals. Due to Katrina, the numbers are on a three year delay. These numbers, however, do not take into account the number of women who traveled outside of Louisiana for abortions or out of state women who came in to Louisiana for abortion.

National statistics on abortion come from either the Center for Disease Control or the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood. For a detailed discussion and the difference between the two, visit NRLC.
AGI reports that about 50 million lives are lost to abortion every year in the world.
