Call to Action
Louisiana Right to Life Director Benjamin Clapper's response to the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States:
November 4th, 2008
Dear Friend of Life,
This evening, our country elected a President in Senator Obama who considers, in his ideology and policy, an entire portion of the human population, the unborn, not worthy of the right to life.
In fact, if Senator Obama holds to his word and signs the Freedom of Choice Act, we could see the largest expansion in abortion rights since Roe v. Wade itself.
Yes, our struggle for the rights of the unborn may have suffered a setback tonight.
However, this must be our call to action.
It is time for us to realize that it is not only our elected officials who have a responsibility to protect the unborn, but each of us must work to change our culture so that one day, laws protecting the unborn will not even be necessary.
My friend, I will now work even harder to protect innocent human life and change our culture towards life.
Please join me in this renewed effort. Today, commit yourself even more to the unborn and the pro-life movement.
Tonight, I leave you with my favorite prayer, one many of you have read before. Tomorrow, our work for the unborn begins anew.

I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all,
Through Christ our Lord. Amen!
